Every year, NAIFA members travel to Washington, D.C., for one of the most important events of the year - the Congressional Conference.  They show up personally to advocate for the clients, communities, and small businesses they serve every day.

This year, over 500 attendees had over 330 meetings covering all 50 states. It was an opportunity to stand united with fellow advisors and tell their story directly to lawmakers. Stories that affect their practice, their clients, and Main Street families across the country.

Congressional Conference is a powerful reminder that advocacy is not separate from professional service; it is part of it. The decisions made in Washington affect retirement planning, small business succession, long-term care solutions, employee benefits, and the financial well-being of millions of Americans. When NAIFA members engage in the legislative process, they help ensure those decisions are informed by real-world experience rather than theory alone.

The 2026 nomination period for many of NAIFA’s national awards is officially underway, with applications being accepted through June 30.

These awards honor professionals who demonstrate excellence in leadership, advocacy, service, education, and professional achievement. Opportunities for recognition span a wide range of categories, including practice specialties, years of industry service, and volunteer leadership within NAIFA.

The awards differentiate NAIFA members with national recognition that not only highlights individual accomplishments but also showcases the strength, professionalism, and influence of NAIFA-North Dakota members across our industry.

The 2026 NAIFA-North Dakota Success Summit brought financial professionals from across the state together for two days of education, innovation, and connection to “Line Up. Focus. Execute.”

The conference opened with educational sessions focused on emerging planning opportunities and regulatory updates. George Bain of Fairway Mortgage explored the strategic role reverse mortgage loans can play as a financial planning tool, while representatives from the North Dakota Insurance Department, Susan Daou and John Arnold, provided attendees with valuable industry and compliance updates impacting professionals across the state.
